The trailer of Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film Sindhubaadh hinted at the film being an action entertainer. Perhaps to underline this notion, the makers have released a video of Sethupathi and his son Suriya engaged in a mock fight on the sets.

The video, with its shot-on-phone feel,  gives the impression of a real fight between two people. Suriya can be seen writhing in pain as his right arm is locked by his father. And Sethupathi, his face fuming with anger, can be seen exerting all his might onto the boy. The Sindhubaadh theme song playing in the background is the only thing that gives away the promotional purpose of the video. The video aptly comes to a close with the father kissing the son on the cheek.

Though star kids becoming part of their parents’ projects is not a new thing, it usually has been limited to special appearances in songs. A case in point would be Vijay’s son Sanjay’s special appearance in the song Naan Adicha Thaangamaatten from Vettaikkaran.

A father-son duo enacting a fight sequence is a first-of-its-kind.

Sindhubaadh is an action film written and directed by SU Arun Kumar, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Anjali in the lead. Linga, Vivek Prasanna and Sethupathi’s son Surya play supporting roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music composer, and the Sri Lanka-based songwriter Rahul Nadarajah is the lyricist.

The film is Vijay Sethupathi’s third project with Arun Kumar, after Pannaiyarum Padminiyum (2014) and Sethupathi (2016). The story of the movie has been set in both Thenkasi and Malaysia

Anjali and Sethupathi were last seen together in Karthik Subbaraj’s Iraivi. Unlike director Arun Kumar’s previous films, Sindhubaadh is being made on a big budget. It is produced by SN Rajarajan and Shan Sutharsan for Vansan Movies and K Productions (distributors of Baahubali 2). The cinematography for the film is by Vijay Kartik Kannan.
