Actor-comedian Vivekh is part of director Shankar’s Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal and others.
Vivekh tweeted today, “A dream until it happens; maturity when it finally does. The last 32 years have taught me patience. To work with complete commitment now is of utmost importance. This is Vivekh’s first film with Kamal Haasan. It is believed that he was approached for KS Ravikumar’s 2000 film Thenali, but he backed out because the role was not a significant one. He was last seen in the lead in Vellai Pookal, and the Ajith-starrer Viswasam, and is also part of Vijay and Atlee’s upcoming Bigil.
Shoot for Indian 2 started on August 12 in Chennai with Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh and others, and Kamal Haasan, who is also busy with Bigg Boss 3, joined them on August 15. A source said, “They have filmed in Kottutpuram and Ambattur in Chennai and will move to Hyderabad later this month.”
The film was scheduled to go on floors in January this year, with Kajal Aggarwal joining the cast. A first-look poster featuring Kamal was also released, but it faced delays due to Kamal’s other commitments.

The film is a sequel of the 1996 Indian featuring Kamal Haasan in dual roles as a father and son. It was written by Sujatha and directed by Shankar, and told the story of Senapathy, a man who battles corruption. The sequel co-stars Kajal Aggarwal, and she has reportedly trained in Kalaripayattu to prepare for her part. Siddharth is said to be playing Senapathy’s son in the film.
Priya Bhavani Shankar recently confirmed that she stars in the lead. There were reports that Aishwarya Rajesh is also in talks for the film, but her role is yet to be confirmed.
Cinematographer Ravi Varman was initially on board, but he opted out due to Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan, which is scheduled to begin in December. He has been replaced by Rathnavelu. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander and editing by Sreekar Prasad, and is likely to wrap up shoot in six months.
