Vishal Makes Big Promises At Producers Council Event

Vishal at Producers Council event

Vishal, the newly elected President of the TFPC, made some big promises at a Producers Council event held in Raghavendra Mandapam yesterday. Clad in a white shirt and veshti, he announced a relief package of sorts for Tamil Nadu’s farmers. He said that the Council would pay Re 1/- towards the farmer’s fund for every ticket sold for a Tamil film on a particular day. “We will decide what day that will be soon,” Vishal said.

Following months of contentious campaigning, Vishal was elected the President of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council earlier this week. Now he has vowed to curb piracy through any means possible. He said, “Piracy is the evil destroying our industry. I will do everything in my power to make sure things change in that regard.”

A committee headed by director/producer Mysskin has been formed to tackle piracy. Vishal announced that many more such committees would be formed shorty to ensure that processes, including title registration and tax exemption, were simplified.

The newly elected Council also announced a pension of Rs 12,500 for members over 60 years of age.

But perhaps his biggest success was in getting Gautham Vasudev Menon to appear on stage in a veshti

Other newly elected Council officers include Vice-Presidents Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prakash Raj, and General Secretaries Kathiresan and SR Prabhu.
