Vijay Sethupathi unveiled the teaser of Ashok Selvan, Ritika Singh, Vani Bhojan starrer Oh My Kadavule today. Helmed by debut director Ashwath Marimuthu, the film also stars Vani Bhojan in an important role. The teaser has Ashok Selvan’s character narrating the story: he marries his childhood friend (Rithika Singh) but is unable to ‘see’ her as anything but a friend. There’s no romance. Enter his childhood crush (Vani Bhojan). Vijay Sethupathi and Ramesh Thilak appear briefly in the teaser — a reunion of sorts of the Soodhum Kavvum gang.

“One day, Ashwath (the director) came for something else and narrated the one-liner. I really liked it and thought why don’t we do it?” says Abinaya Selvam, co-founder of Uptown Ideas told Silverscreen recently. Abinaya and Ashok Selvan are producing the film under the Happy High Pictures banner. “I was looking to do something different and it was just a decision taken on the spur of the moment… I think it was the story. We’ve been working on the script for a year now and we went to the Axess Film Factory (it previously did Raatchasan). The team there loved it and decided to bankroll this,” Abinaya added.
The film was also in the news when WWE fame wrestler Kurt Angle and his wife Giovanna Angle took to Instagram to post one of the posters. Giovanna said that it reminded her of their wedding.
