Venkat Mohan In Talks With Sun Pictures For Suriya’s 40th

Sun Pictures is planning to produce Suriya’s next film, and have approached Ayogya director Venkat Mohan for a script. This is likely to be the producers’ first collaboration with Suriya.

Director Venkat Mohan told Silverscreen that no project has been signed as yet. “I was approached and asked if there was a script for a film with actor Suriya. The talks are in initial stages and a confirmation cannot be given at this point,” he said. Sun Pictures were reportedly impressed by the response to Vishal-starrer Ayogya, Venkat Mohan’s first directorial.

Speculations about Suriya’s 40th have been doing the rounds for a week now. It was first said that director Siva, who last made Viswasam, will direct the movie. Reports later confirmed that Siva’s film is likely to be with KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, and not Sun Pictures. A report by India Glitz also mentions that new directors were approached by Sun Pictures for Suriya’s 40th, including Lokesh Kanagaraj who is working on Karthi-starrer Kaithi and is also likely to direct Vijay in Thalapathy 64. 

Meanwhile, Suriya revealed in a Twitter chat on May 20 that he just heard the script for a promising film and hoped for things to work out. The actor is currently busy with shoot for Soorarai Potru, the film by Sudha Kongara, based on the story of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath. His look for the film was revealed when was live for the recent chat, to speak about NGK which is gearing up for release on May 31. NGK is a political thriller directed by Selvaraghavan, co-starring Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh.

Suriya’s next release after NGK is Kaapaan, directed by KV Anand, co-starring Mohanlal, Arya, Sayessha and others. Meanwhile reports suggest his film with director Hari is facing roadblocks because of a fall out between the actor and the director. They have previously worked on six films including Aaru, Vel, and the Singam series.
