Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan Begin Shoot For ‘Coolie No 1’ Remake In Bangkok

Actors Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan will star in the remake of 1995 super-hit Coolie No 1, directed by the original director and Varun’s father David Dhawan. The shooting for the film began in Bangkok yesterday.

Screenwriter Farhad Samji shared a video from the first day of shoot on social media.

Varun also posted a video of him prepping for the role and trying out different looks.

Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan, who are acting together for the first time, will reprise Govinda and Karisma Kapoor’s roles from the 1995 comedy. Paresh Rawal and Johnny Lever have important roles. The original film also had a chartbuster album composed by Anand-Milind. The composers for the new film are yet to be announced. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, David Dhawan said he was hopeful that the remake will work with the audience. “I want to make a film people can see again and again.”

In August 2018, he said that he was reviving the ‘No 1’ franchise, with Hero No 1, Jodi No 1, and more films, starting with the remake of Coolie No 1. Reports say that while Coolie No 1 is a remake, the other films will have original scripts. A source told Mumbai Mirror, “The team is planning to shoot abroad to give the film a fresh vibe. The basic premise of a coolie caught between two girls remains the same, but there are many new changes in the screenplay for it to appeal to today’s audiences.”
