Vadivelu-Chimbudevan Tussle Over; Filming To Resume

Tenaliraman Press Meet with Vadivelu and Meenakshi Dixit

Vadivelu has agreed to resume filming his Pulikesi sequel. The actor had previously walked out of the film’s set after an alleged dispute with the film’s director Chimbudevan last year. The film’s producer, Shankar, then approached the Producers Council and filed a complaint against the actor.

Vadivelu still refused to resume filming, following which the actor was asked to pay compensation. This demand went unnoticed, according to a source from the production house. “The production house has already lost a hefty amount from the delays. A lot of the artistes had given bulk dates last year, which were all wasted.”

After another intervention from the TFPC, Vadivelu has agreed to begin filming again. A spokesperson for the project confirmed that filming will begin soon.

Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi was launched last year. Vadivelu takes on the titular role while Parvathy Omanakuttan is the female lead. M Ghibran is the composer.

The project is a sequel to the 2006 film – Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi, also starring Vadivelu. The movie marked Chimbudevan’s debut and was commercially successful. The historical comedy follows the travails of King Pulikesi, the foolish monarch of Cholapurapalayam. He is incapable of making decisions on his own, and as a result, relies heavily on the advice of his evil uncle – Sangilimayan.

Vadivelu had dual roles in the movie. He played King Pulikesi as well as his win, Ukkiraputhan.
