Kappal has been awarded a U certificate, and the film is likely to release this Christmas. The rom-com has Vaibhav Reddy and Sonam Bajwa in the lead, while Karunakaran and VTV Ganesh form the supporting cast. Debutant Karthik, a former associate of Shankar, has directed Kappal. Natarajan, who has worked in Moodar Koodam and Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavanium, has composed music.
The film’s audio was launched by AR Rahman, Vikram and Vijay recently. At the launch, Shankar said that he bought Kappal not just because Karthik was his assistant. “I couldn’t stop laughing when I watched Kappal. It was hilarious and I felt good about watching an out-and-out comedy after a long time.”
