The arrest of Kishan Modugumudi and his wife Chandra Modugumudi for allegedly running an organized prostitution racket involving Tollywood actresses and Telugu NRIs in the US has put the spotlight on the Telugu film industry.

In response to it, the president of Movie Artiste Association (MAA), Sivaji Raja said that some actresses participate in the nefarious activities for money and the association is in touch with the leaders of other organisations like the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) and American Telugu Association (ATA) so that the safety of the actress are ensured.

“Whoever wants to go to the US to participate in private events, should inform the MAA before leaving. We will guide artistes and verify if the event being organised is real or fake,” he told Deccan Chronicle.

Kishan Modugumudi and his wife Chandra Modugumudi have been running this as a business for a while now, coordinating between actresses and interested parties locally for paid sexual encounters, charging up to $3,000 from clients.

It was learnt that the actresses were called to the US under the pretext of events and functions while these activities were conducted on the sidelines.

According to the Chicaco Tribune“The ring charged clients up to $3,000 for each sexual encounter, according to a 42-page criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago. While here on temporary visas, at least five actresses were sometimes forced to stay in a dingy, two-story apartment building in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin neighborhood waiting for their next “date,” the charges alleged. They also met clients in hotels at conferences in Dallas, New Jersey and Washington.”

The couple reportedly kept a ledger of each actress involved and where the encounters occurred and who they were involved with and the price too. An investigation is still on.
