Thespian Cheenu Mohan Joins ‘Vada Chennai’ Cast

Theatre and film actor Cheenu Mohan is reportedly the new cast member in Vetrimaran’s Vada Chennai. According to a TOI report, the actor will play a politician in the film, sharing screen space with Dhanush. “I play a corrupt politician who is imprisoned,” he said.

Cheenu Mohan, known for his several plays with fellow-thespian ‘Crazy’ Mohan, was last seen essaying a crucial role in Karthik Subbaraj’s Iraivi this year. After a chance encounter with Karthik at a small tea stall, Cheenu Mohan landed the role of John in the film. With Iraivi resurrecting his position as one of the more notable theatre artists in the city, Mohan told TOI that he chooses realistic roles and doesn’t judge it by how ‘meaty’ it is. “It doesn’t matter how lengthy my role is – as long as it is realistic and takes the story forward, I’m happy with it. After all, I was featured in just one scene in Thalapathi with Rajinikanth. Interestingly, Karthik Subbaraj offered me the role in Iraivi after watching my performance in that one scene,” he said.
