Thani Oruvan To Be Remade In Bengali

Thani Oruvan will be remade in Bengali. According to an IANS report, Bengali actors Jeet and Prosenjit Chatterjee have been approached to play major roles in the film. Jeet will play the male lead while Prosenjit is expected to play the villain. The project will most likely be financed by Shree Venkatesh Films.

Jeet began his career as a model. After several television appearances, Jeet made his film debut with Sathi, a remake of the Tamil film – Thulladha Manamum Thullum. He is currently awaiting the release of Abhimaan, a remake of the Telugu film Attarintiki Daredi. According to recent reports, the actor has received remuneration of Rs 1 Crore for an upcoming Bengali film.

Prosenjit Chatterjee has had an illustrious career thus far. He made his debut with Duti Pata, a teenage romance along the lines of Bobby. Since then, he has worked in over three hundred films and won the National Award for his role in Dosar. His Praktan with Rituparna Sengupta released to much acclaim earlier this year.

Thani Oruvan is an action-thriller directed by Mohan Raja. Actor Jayam Ravi played IPS Officer Mithran while Arvind Swamy played ruthless scientist Siddharth Abhimanyu. Nayanthara, Ganesh Venkatraman, Thambi Ramaiah and Mugdha Godse had major roles in the film. Written by Mohan Raja along with Subha, the film chronicled Mithran’s efforts to bring Siddharth Abhimanyu to justice. The film was a commercial as well as critical success, collecting over Rs 100 Crores worldwide.

Thani Oruvan is also currently being remade in Telugu. Titled Dhruva, the film is directed by Surender Reddy of Kick fame and stars Ram Charan in the lead. While Arvind Swamy reprises his role, actress Rakul Preet Singh has been cast as the female lead. Dhruva‘s first look was revealed earlier this week, with most of the shooting done in Kashmir and Hyderabad. The film is slated for an October release.
