Tabu is set to make a comeback to Telugu cinema with Allu Arjun’s upcoming movie with Trivikram Srinivas. The actress will reportedly play Allu Arjun’s mother in the movie.
Tabu made her acting debut in Telugu with Coolie No.1 in 1991. Though the actress has been part of several successful movies like Ninne Pelladata, Aavida Maa Aavide, Chennakesava Reddy, Andarivaadu and Prema Desam, her last film appearance came 11 years ago opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna in Pandurangadu.
Recent reports suggest that the actress has been approached by Trivikram Srinivas for his upcoming movie tentatively titled Nanna Nenu. Srinivas, who reunites with his S/O Sathyamurti actor Allu Arjun for the project has approached Tabu to play the actor’s mother. “The mother’s role is very important in the film and Trivikram wanted someone new, so he approached Tabu,” a source was quoted by DC. An official confirmation is yet to come in this regard.
Nanna Nenu is reportedly based on the Hollywood film The Invention of Lying. The 2009 film, written and directed by the team of Ricky Gervais and Matthew Robinson, was a fantasy romantic comedy and was about the first human with the ability to lie in a world where people could only speak the truth.
The movie featuring Gervais, Jennifer Garner, Jonah Hill and Louis CK went on to become a success after its release.
According to India Today, the makers of Nanna Nenu have bought the rights for the remake. The movie will be jointly produced by Haarika & Haasine Creations and Geetha Arts.
Announcing the movie, Allu Arjun took to social media on New Year’s eve to write “I have been waiting to announce this officially. My Next film #AA19 is with Trivikram garu . Produced by Allu Arvind&Radhkrishna garu.”
Nanna Nenu will go on floors after Ugadi – the Telugu New Year on April 6. The makers are currently in the process of finalizing the cast and crew of the movie.
