Suseenthiran’s ‘Angelina’ Likely To Release In June

In Pictures: Bharath, Suseenthiran, Rajakumaran And Others At 'Kadugu' Movie Premiere

Director Suseenthiran’s much delayed film Angelina is complete and is likely to release in June. The first single ‘Oru Naal’, with lyrics by Vivek, music by D Imman and rendition by Sid Sriram, will be out tomorrow.

Suseenthiran shared a line from the song and said that it was the closest to his heart after ‘Iragai Pole’ from his 2010 film Naan Mahaan Alla. “Angelina is a soulful film for me and the songs will become a huge hit. They are completely different from Imman sir’s previous work. I believe that ‘Oru Naal’ will became a popular ringtone for all lovers,” he said.

The film’s first look was released last week by Picture Box Company, who have bagged the theatrical rights. The poster, which features a hand covering the mouth of a startled woman, has led to speculations that Angelina is a horror film.

The story revolves around the lives of college students, played by new actors and Krishna Kurup in the lead. It will be along the lines of Suseenthiran’s 2013 Aadhalal Kaadhal Seiveer. The film was launched immediately after Nenjil Thunivirunthal in 2017, but faced delays due to various reasons and was cleared with a U/A by the censor board in January 2019.

Suseenthiran had said about his films on his birthday last year, “In a 10-year span, I have introduced five new actors and producers. I have almost completed work on Angelina and Genius. Production work on my new film Champion, which is based on football, will start immediately.” He is experimenting with fresh themes and approaches for his upcoming films, he said.

Genius, starring newcomer Roshan in the lead, released last year and became popular for its songs by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Champion and Vennila Kabadai Kuzhu 2, which are both sports films, are in different stages of production currently. Suseenthiran’s much-awaited Kennedy Club is also gearing up for release. The film stars a women’s kabaddi team along with Bharathiraja, Sasikumar, Samuthirakani, Soori, Munishkanth, and others. Music for this film too is by D Imman.
