Suriya’s Next Films By Directors Hari & Sudha Kongara

Actor Suriya has reportedly signed two new films with directors Hari and Sudha Kongara. It is said that talks for the film with Sudha Kongara began in February last year. Suriya is currently shooting the final schedule of KV Anand’s Kaapan.

He will be collaborating with a woman director for the first time. According to a report, the film with director Sudha Kongara, of Irudhi Suttru fame, will be produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainments. It is expected to go on floors soon. Lyricist Vivek will be part of the film, and had also tweeted about it. GV Prakash is reportedly be the music composer of the film.

Meanwhile, Suriya will be working with director Hari for the sixth time, after Vel, Aaru, Singam, Singam 2 and Singam 3. While it was expected that the actor-director duo would collaborate for the next in the Singam franchise, it is now reported that their upcoming film is titled Yaanai, a cop drama, produced by AVM Studios.

Suriya will be seen as a senior official in the film. The makers will plan sequels if the film is successful like the Singam series. Talking about the movie, the Singam director had earlier said: “I already have an idea to make a family entertainer with some action. I will commence my work on the new project post the release of Saamy Square.”

On the work front, the actor has two releases scheduled for this year – NGK with Selvaraghavan and Kaappaan with KV Anand.

Recently, the makers of NGK had announced that the shoot had been wrapped. Pitched as a political thriller, NGK or Nandha Gopalan Kumaran will see Suriya playing the titular character. It is produced by S. R. Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures, and stars Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh. Bala Singh, Mansoor Ali Khan, Murali Sharma, Sampath Raj, Sarath Kumar and Jagapathi Babu play pivotal roles.

Kaappaan marks Suriya’s third collaboration with KV Anand after Ayan and Maatran. It also stars Mohanlal, Arya, Sayyeshaa Saigal, Boman Irani, and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles. Harris Jayaraj is the composer, Abhinandan Ramanujam is the cinematographer, and editing is by Anthony. The film is expected to release in the second half of 2019.
