Rumoured to be a comedy, the cast which includes Hareesh Kanaran, Aju Varghese and Ramesh Pisharody only help reinforce this notion. There are also reports that the movie will be a road film.

Even after debuting with Jism 2 in 2012 and having done several Bollywood movies thereafter, Leone’s regional language outings have been largely restricted to special appearances in songs like ‘Low Aana Lifeu’ for the Tamil movie Vadacurry and ‘Sesamma’ for the Kannada movie DK.

This changed recently when the actress signed Veeramadevi – a historical movie where she plays the titlular role. Directed by V C Vadivudaiyan, the movie will be released in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu. Produced by Ponse Steven, the film also stars Nasser and Arya fame Navdeep. The actress had shared the first look of the movie earlier this year.

Apart from South Indian languages, the actress has also had stints in Marathi and Bengali. Mostly Sunny, a documentary chronicling her life before and after entering Bollywood is currently streaming on Netflix.

Her most recent Bollywood outing was last year’s Tera Intezaar in which she starred alongside Arbaaz Khan. Leone also has a cameo appearance in the upcoming film Arjun Patiala – a romantic comedy produced by Dinesh Vijan and starring Diljit Dosanjh and Kriti Sanon.

The actress boasts a huge fan following in Kerala. This came to the fore when her visit to the city of Kochi last year for the inauguration of a shop drew a huge crowd. Santhosh Nair – the director of Rangeela – had previously directed Money Rathnam starring Fahadh Faasil, Renji Panicker and Niveda Thomas. The film released in 2014 to mixed reviews.
