Sun TV has acquired the satellite rights for Vijay’s upcoming film with Atlee, tentatively titled Thalapathy63. The movie, featuring Nayanthara in the female lead, is expected to release during Deepavali.

Sun Pictures has distributed Vijay’s movies like Sura and Vettaikkaran in the past, and the company produced the actor’s latest release – Sarkar. The shooting for Thalapathy63 is currently progressing in Chennai. Videos of Nayanthara and Vijay from the sets have been doing the rounds on social media.

Thalapathy63, which marks the third collaboration between Atlee and Vijay, is produced by AGS Entertainment. The pre-production activities for the film began in November 2018, after a pooja at Binny Mills, Perambur. The shooting for the film started in Chennai this January.
Vijay is rumoured to be playing a sports coach in the film. A TimesNow report says that Vijay’s character from the movie is called Michael – a footballer from North Chennai. According to another report, Vijay had undergone physical training under the guidance of a trainer for the role.

In January, the makers had announced that actor Kathir will star in the movie. Super Singer participant Kapish Poovaiyaar, actors Vivek, Yogi Babu, Daniel Balaji and Anand Raj are also part of the cast. Politician-turned-actor Nenjil Sampath was approached for a role. Nenjil made his acting debut in RJ Balaji’s recently released film LKG, where he played Balaji’s father.
It was earlier reported that 16 new actresses have joined the film’s cast. Special training sessions were carried out to prepare the actors for the sports scenes featuring them. However, there has been no official confirmation from the makers about this.
A.R. Rahman is the music composer for the project, and Vivek is the lyricist. As for the rest of the crew, Atlee has chosen the Mersal team, including editor Antony Ruben, stunt director Anal Arasu and art director Muthuraj.
