Stay On Atharvaa-Starrer ‘100’; Producers Say Film Will Release As Planned

Atharvaa At The '100' Press Meet

The Madras High Court has issued a stay order on the release of Atharvaa-starrer 100, which was earlier scheduled for May 3 and later postponed to May 9. The order was granted in response to a civil suit filed by the production house 70 MM Entertainment, which claimed that the producers of 100, MG Auraa, had to settle dues worth Rs 1 crore.

The film’s spokesperson and the producers at MG Auraa have, however, said that the stay order will not affect release, and the film will be out as planned on May 9.

According to a report by Cinema Express, the case was heard by Justice S Vaidyanathan who posted the matter for further hearing on June 17. Balaji, a partner at 70 MM, claimed that Mahesh, the founder of MG Auraa, used the Rs 1 crore he owed them for the production of 100. Mahesh and his wife Kaviya later met Balaji and handed a cheque dated April 23 worth Rs 1 crore. When Balaji presented the cheque to City Union Bank, he was told the cheque was issued from an account that had already been closed.

Balaji stated that he had filed a complaint with the Tamil Film Producers’ Council for the recovery of the amount. However, TFPC general secretary SS Durairaj told Silverscreen that they were not informed about the issue and the matter was being settled between the two parties.

The makers of the film are currently busy with promotions. Asked about the stay order, a producer at MG Auraa told Silverscreen, “I don’t want to reveal anything now, but the movie is releasing on May 9 for sure. We have submitted our responses and all genuine documents to the court. The matter will be over in a day or two.”

Written and directed by Sam Anton, 100 features Atharvaa as a cop and Hansika Motwani plays the female lead. Yogi Babu, Mime Gopi, Rahul Dev, Radha Ravi and others essay supporting roles. Sam CS has composed the music for the film, cinematography is by Rajasekhar and editing Antony Ruben.

The trailer of the film releases today.
