Sreenivasan To Play An Actor In ‘And The Oscar Goes To’

Sreenivasan will play the role of a film actor in Tovino Thomas’ upcoming movie And The Oscar Goes To. The actor had famously portrayed a film star in Udayananu Tharam and Padmasree Dr.Bharat Saroj Kumar, which won the viewers’ hearts.

According to a ToI report, Sreenivasan plays a character named Arvanindan, while Tovino Thomas essays the role of a first-time director struggling to make a movie. And The Oscar Goes To is directed by Salim Ahmed, who made award-winning movies like Pathemari, Kunjananthante Kada and Adaminte Makan Abu.

The movie was announced almost two years ago, and was reported that it would be about films. Tovino Thomas recently shared the first look poster of the movie which showed him seated amidst a crowd during the Oscar ceremony.

Anu Sithara plays the female lead in the movie. Bijibal is the music composer, while Rafeeq Ahmed is the lyricist for the film. Cinematography is by Madhu Ambat. Oscar winning sound designer Resul Pookutty works on the film. Parts of the movie will be shot in the US and Canada. The cast members include Lal, Vijayaraghavan, Salim Kumar, Siddique and Appani Sharath.

Previously, the director’s Adaminte Makan Abu won the National Award for Best Feature Film, and Pathermari was adjudged the Best Feature Film in Malayalam. Mammootty was lauded for his performance in Pathemari. Sreenivasan, who was also part of the movie, was appreciated for his performance.

Last month, Sreenivasan was hospitalized due to breathing problems. The 62-year-old was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and put on ventilator support. “He showed symptoms of a small heart failure, with water filling the lungs and high BP. We have given medicines to bring down the BP and moved him to ventilator support,” the duty doctor was quoted saying.

However, the actor’s condition soon improved and he was shifted out of the hospital.
