Superstar Rajnikanth’s family is in a celebratory mode ahead of Soundarya Rajinikanth’s wedding with businessman Vishagan Vanangamudi. A pre-wedding reception of the couple was held on Friday in Chennai with their close circle of friends and relatives attending the function.
Soundarya wore a sky blue and orange coloured silk saree, while the groom, Vishagan, was in a sandal coloured silk shirt and veshti for their big day. The function started with a sumangali pooja followed by a pre-wedding reception. The couple decided to go green and gift eco-friendly seed balls to guests. The reception was a low-key affair with the presence of only family members from both sides.
Earlier, Rajnikanth personally invited Tamil Nadu Congress chief Thirunavukkarasar, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi president Thol Thirumavalavan, DMK chief MK Stalin and actor-politician Kamal Hassan for the wedding. There were rumours about his personal invitees, and their possible political links ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Clearing the air, Rajnikanth told the media, “Thirunavukarasar has been the main person behind Soundarya’s marriage arrangements. So, I gave the first invitation to him. I will invite few more people. The political people I am meeting now is only for my daughter’s marriage and not for any politically inclined reasons.”

Vishagan Vanangamudi, son of Sulur Vanangamudi, is an executive director of Chennai-based Apex Laboratories Private Limited. He made his acting debut in the movie Vanjagar Ulagam. He was married to Kanikha Kumaran, and the couple got divorced a few months later.
Soundarya and Vishagan’s wedding will take place at The Leela Palace, Chennai on Monday. The pre-wedding celebrations like mehandi and sangeet will be held on Sunday at their residence.
