Nelson Dilipkumar, director of Kolamavu Kokila, tweeted out a casting call for his upcoming film and this received a response from many celebrities, including actor Sivakarthikeyan, director Vignesh Shivan and composer-singer Anirudh Ravichander.
Anirudh and Vignesh Shivan said they had already mailed their auditions to Nelson, and Sivakarthikeyan attached a clip from Remo where he is seen in an audition with director KS Ravikumar. A series of tweets followed this, and the actor and director decided to zero in on the dates soon.
In March, it was speculated that Sivakarthikeyan will be seen in the lead and is likely to produce the film under his banner SK Productions. The actor worked as Nelson’s assistant in Vettai Manan, starring Simbu, but the film could not be completed. The director went on to make his debut with the Nayanthara-starrer Kolamavu Kokila in 2018.
Sivakarthikeyan and director Nelson have known each since their school days. In the Sivakarthikeyan-production Kanaa, the actor also played a cameo as a coach named Nelson Dilipkumar.

Sources close to the film told Silverscreen that the project is in pre-production and nothing can be confirmed yet. It is a mainstream film and the casting call is for actors of all age groups. It asks for photos and work samples to be sent to nelsonsnextfilm@gmail.com.
Sivakarthikeyan is currently gearing up for the release of his film with director Pandiraj on September 27. The film is a rural entertainer, and the second schedule of shoot is on in Theni. Aishwarya Rajesh stars as SK’s sister and the film reportedly revolves around their story. Anu Emmanuel is paired opposite Sivakarthikeyan. Cinematographer Natty, directors Bharathirajaa and Samuthirakani, RK Suresh, Soori and Yogi Babu are also part of the cast.
Meanwhile, pre-production for SK17 with director Vignesh Shivan is also on. Shoot is likely to begin after the Pandiraj film wraps up.
