Simbu, ‘Sincere Love’ & Some Stunts In Sundar C’s ‘Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven’ Trailer

Actor Silambarasan (Or STR Or Simbu) in Vaalu Stills

The trailer of Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven begins with chenda players and folk dancers making way for Simbu who arrives to fight men. This is followed by punch dialogues, more fights, some dance, some more fights, and the trailer ends.

In the midst of all this is the ‘love interest’ of the film, Megha Akash. She practices classical dance, and Simbu gapes at her and says, “If I sincerely want a girl, won’t I get her?” And so he does. She comes and goes, posing by a door, kissing him on the cheek. His jaw drops and she feeds him food. Later she winks and he proudly says, “Many people think they are my world after my mother.”

His mother played by Ramya Krishnan is rich but not mean-minded like the other rich. She will oppose his love but won’t kill him for it, she says. But anyway, this doesn’t matter because the film is not about the women, and because Simbu must win his love. The supporting cast, Robo Shankar, Motta Rajendran, Yogi Babu, repeat these dialogues. He’s fighting other men and we’re not sure why or who they are. We’re not even sure who Simbu is, except that he has gethu and is ‘returning as a raaja’.

Meanwhle, Simbu’s fans are following his orders and celebrating this film “like never before.” A banner was put up in the middle of a river, and paal abhishekam was done today. Simbu who first asked his fans not to waste money and milk with celebrations, had later asked fans to perform paal abhishekam, “not just in liters but in gallons,” when social media trolled him about his fan-base. The latest news, however, is that he has changed his mind again. He has apologised and asked fans not to do paal abishekam.

The film, written and directed by Sundar C, is produced by Lyca Productions. It also stars Catherine Tresa, Prabhu, Mahat Raghavendra and others. It is a remake of the 2013 Telugu film Attarintiki Daredi, starring Pawan Kalyan and Samantha Akkineni. The title is from Simbu’s dialogue in Chekka Chevandha Vaanam.

The film releases on February 1.
