Lauding the director’s efforts, producer Vijay K Celliah of Boss Movies said, “I am so happy to see that the film’s output is extraordinary. I am curious enough just as a member of the audience to have a look at the final version. All credit goes to filmmaker Vinod DL.”

He also appreciated the efforts of the entire crew. “It’s always nice to work with actors who aren’t just proficient in performances, but the ones who keep the producers’ investment in mind.” He also lauded his lead actors Sibiraj and Nikhila Vimal for shooting in Kashmir despite adverse climatic conditions.

The title has been borrowed from Rajinikanth’s 1982 film. Director Vinod DL explained this in a ToI report. “The title is very apt for the script. The film is about how a common man protects the people around him amidst struggles. Hence the title Ranga as Ranganathan is the ‘kaakum kadavul’.”

The actor’s previous movie was named after a Kamal Haasan film – Sathya. Sibiraj is currently shooting for Maayon, a mystery thriller. The actor didn’t have a single release in 2018. Meanwhile, Nikhila Vimal had five releases – two each in Tamil and Malayalam and one in Telugu this year. Njan Prakashan, featuring the actress, released in Malayalam for Christmas and is currently playing in theatres.

An action thriller, Ranga has been shot in Pollachi and Chennai. The movie features Sathish and Sujatha Babu. Parineeti Chopra has been rumoured to be part of the project. Ramjeevan is the music composer for the movie and Arvi takes care of the cinematography. Ruben has been hired as the editor.
