Shruti Haasan To Star Opposite Vijay Sethupathi

Shruti Haasan is likely to play the female lead opposite Vijay Sethupathi in the upcoming film directed by S.P. Jananthan. Vijay Sethupati recently appeared as a guest on the actress’ talk show.

S.P. Jananthan had worked with Vijay Sethupathi in Purampokku Engira Pothuvudamai. The actor-director duo’s latest film is rumoured to be titled Laabam. Jagapathi Babu has reportedly been chosen to play the main antagonist. The movie has already entered pre-production stages. It will be produced by Arumuga Kumar under the banner of 7C Entertainment, who had earlier produced the actor’s Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren.

According to reports, Shruti Haasan has been approached for the project and has given her nod too. The actress was last seen in Singham 3. She has also been approached for a part in a Hindi film, to be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi was last seen in Rajinikanth’s Petta where he played the main antagonist. He has a slew of projects lined up for release this year. The actor will be making his Telugu debut with Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.

He is currently shooting for Sindhubaandh with Arun Kumar who has previously directed movies like Pannaiyarum Padminiyum and Sethupathi. The team finished shooting for the first schedule in Tenkasi. They recently wrapped the final schedule in Thailand.

The actor will shortly start shooting for his new film with director Vijay Chandar. Vijay Chandar is best known for directing the Vikram starrer Sketch. Raashi Khanna will play the female lead opposite Vijay Sethupathi in the movie. “I have been working on this script even before the release of Sketch. Sethu anna and I often bounce off ideas. When I approached him with this one, he liked it. He will get a makeover in this film, with loads of action sequences. Anal Arasu has lot of interesting ideas about presenting the stunt sequences in a never-seen-before way,” the director said about the movie.

Thiyagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe, where the actor plays the role of a transgender person, will also release this year.
