Actor Shanthnu Bhagyaraj has teamed with Madha Yaanai Koottam fame director Vikram Sugumaran for a film titled Raavana Kottam. Music is by Justin Prabhakaran, production is by Kannan Ravi.
Shanthnu announced the film on Twitter recently. “Mighty thrilled to team up with an extremely talented Vikram Sukumaran. Pinning a lot of hopes on a completely new backdrop in my career. Thanking Producer Kannan Ravi for this opportunity,” he said.

The makers released a press statement saying it was a ‘nativity inclined’ film, and Shanthnu plays the role of a man from Ramanathapuram. Director Vikram said in a press statement, “Shanthnu is known for his dedication. Over the past couple of months, he has been appearing in traditional shirt and dhoti, and is even speaking in the unique Ramanathapuram slang to adapt himself for the role.”
He also said that after the success of his 2013 film Madha Yaanai Koottam, he didn’t want to announce his next film in a rush. “I was conscious of retaining the name I had gained. I traveled down south and did lots of research.” He is a former assistant of Balu Mahendra, and the scriptwriter of Aadukalam. Madha Yaanai Koottam was actor Kathir’s first film, and co-starred Oviya in the lead.

The makers of Raavana Kottam are in the lookout for a female lead and announcements about the rest of the cast and crew will also be made shortly. Shooting for the film has just begun.
Raavana Kottam marks Shanthnu Bhagyaraj’s return to acting after his 2017 movie Mupparimanam. He starred opposite Srushti Dange in the romantic thriller by Adhuroopan. The director worked on the script for seven years, and Shanthnu described the film as his comeback. The same year, director Pandiaraj’s Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga, starring Shanthnu and Parvathy Nair also released.
In 2018, Shanthnu signed up for Psycho with Mysskin but he was later replaced by Udhayanidhi Stalin after Libra Productions quit the project. He also appeared as a judge of Dance Jodi Dance last year.
