Sources close to Vijay told Silverscreen that he is busy with shoot for Bigil currently and will get started on his film with Lokesh Kanagaraj after this. As reported recently, Vijay is in talks with Shankar for the sequel of Mudhalvan, but the film is only in initial stages.

In May, some reports speculated that Vikram and Vijay will be seen together in a film. However, in an interview to a news website last week, Vikram reportedly denied the rumours and said, “It may take anywhere between two-three years for my film with director Shankar to be launched. He worked on a film with Rajini sir and he will next move to the film with Vijay before working with me.”

Shankar is also believed to have signed up for a film with Vikram’s son Dhruv Vikram and Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay. This was reported in May, but there have been no updates on the project.

According to a Dinamalar report, Shankar has already started work on the Vijay-starrer and is scouting locations during breaks between production for Indian 2. The speculations are that the sequel will see Vijay in the lead as the Chief Minister, while Arjun Sarja, who played CM in the original film, plays the antagonist.

In August, Shankar will start shooting for Indian 2 as planned. The film faced delays due to Lok Sabha elections and Kamal Haasan’s other projects. Kajal Aggarwal plays the female lead opposite Kamal, who reprises Senapathy’s role from the original. Priya Bhavani Shankar, Aishwarya Rajesh and Rakul Preet Singh were approached to star opposite Siddharth who is said to play Senapathy’s son in the film, but this is yet to be confirmed.

The big-budget film is expected to take at least another year to complete. Lyca Productions has reportedly asked the director to prepare for release by 2021.

Meanwhile, pre-production work on Vikram’s next with director Ajay Gnanamuthu, and Vijay’s film with Lokesh Kanagaraj have started.
