The director’s debut film, News, came out 30 years ago, in 1989. In the following years, he directed an out-and-out comedy, Dr Pasupathy (1990), and romantic-comedies like Souhrudam and Kilukkampetty, before moving into the turf of action-thrillers. His most acclaimed films include Ekalavyan (1993), Commissioner (1994), Narasimhan (2000) and Aaram Thampuran (1997). After producing a string of films that failed to make an impact in the boxoffice in the 2000s, the director turned back to making comedies. His last film, Ginger, a comedy starring Jayaram, came out in 2013, and tanked commercially. He has also made a film in Tamil, Janaa, starring Ajith Kumar.

Kaduva is written by Jinu Abraham who directed Adam Joan, starring Prithviraj, in 2018.  The film, going by the first-look poster, is an action thriller.

This is Prithviraj’s  second film with Shaji Kailas, after Simhasanam (2012).  The actor has also hinted on his social media post that Kaduva is inspired from a real incident. The film’s cinematography is by Ravi K Chandran, and will have music by S Thaman.
