According to reports, the release of the film got delayed as the producer had financial issues, and tried to sell the rights of the film to some other production house. But Radiance Media, in their statement, mentioned that all the rights of the film was with them, and Sushant Prasad did not have the authority or ownership to sell the rights to a third party.

Radiance Media’s show cause notice to Sushant Prasad and his production house Film Department, stated: “All rights including negative rights over the film being produced by M/s. Film Department and Mr. Sushant Prasad titled “Mannavan Vanthanadi” starring actor Mr Santhanam directed by Mr. Selva Raghavan are only with our client M/s. Radiance Media Pvt Ltd and no one else has any rights over the film.”

Earlier last week, the Madras High Court reportedly granted an interim injunction order against Film Department, and refrained them from theatrically releasing and broadcasting the film. The production house was also refrained from distributing the rights of the film. It was only after this that the director moved on to work Suriya’s NGK or Nandha Gopalan Kumaran.

Mannavan Vanthanadi is a romantic drama starring Santhanam and Aaditi Pohankar in the lead. Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography is by Loganathan, and editing by GK Prasanna. The film went on floors earlier in 2016. Its title Mannavan Vanthanadi has been inspired by the popular song of the same name from Sivaji Ganesan’s Thiruvarutchelvar (1967).
