Dharmadurai Audio Launch

Director Seenu Ramasamy’s upcoming film with Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathrie, tentatively titled Maamanithan, will release in September or October. The post production work is on.

The director announced the news on Twitter with a picture of him, Sethupathi, and the film’s composers Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja. This is also the second production venture of Yuvan Shankar Raja’s YSR Studios.

The film began shoot in December last year and it was also speculated that Vijay Sethupathi plays a politician in the film. The first-look pictures which released in January however shows that he plays an auto driver.

The director earlier told Silverscreen that the film talks about social and religious harmony. Actor Guru Somasundaram also stars in the lead as Vijay Sethupathi’s friend. “He is a Muslim man while Vijay is a Hindu in the movie. The film explores religious harmony through their relationship. Gayathrie plays a woman who drops out of tenth standard to take up work and support her family.”

The film was shot in Aandipatti near Madurai and also in Kerala, Kashi and Rameshwaram, and was wrapped up as scheduled in February this year. Work on the music and background score, by Ilaiayaraaja, YSR and Kaarthik Raaja, began after this.

The cinematography for the film is by M Sukumar and editing by Sreekar Prasad. In June, the theatrical rights for the film were reportedly sold to Vasan Movies and the satellite rights to Zee Tamil channel.

This is Vijay Sethupathi’s third film with Seenu Ramasamy and Yuvan Shankar Raja, after Dharma Durai and Idam Porul Yaeval. Gayathri and Sethupathi have worked together on Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, Puriyatha Puthir, Super Deluxe and the recent release Sindhubaadh.

Sethupathi is one of the busiest actors in the industry, and currently has Kadaisi Vivasayi, Sanga Tamizhan, Laabam, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Marconi Mathai under production. Gayathrie has Kennedy Club and the Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Un Kaadhal Irundhal.
