Seenu Ramasamy’s next film, which stars Vijay Sethupathi and Guru Somasundaram, talks about social and religious harmony; “perhaps two of the most important concepts for the people,” the director says.
“This movie has taken a long time to shape up and that’s really because a story such as this needed some time to exist and breathe. We have started shoot and we plan to keep at it till we get some major work done,” he told Silverscreen.
Guru Somasundaram takes on an important role in this film. He plays Vijay Sethupathi’s friend in the film. “Guru plays a Muslim man while Vijay is a Hindu in the movie. The film explores religious harmony through their relationship. There’s also Gayathri as the female lead. She plays a woman who drops out of tenth standard to take up work and support her family.”
Incidentally, this is the fourth film with actor Vijay Sethupathi for both Seenu and Gayathri. “Vijay is a powerhouse of talent. I really enjoy the kind of energy he brings to every film and this time around too, it has been a very interesting few days since we began shoot.”
The team is currently shooting in Aandipatti near Madurai. Following this, they plan to go to Kerala, Kashi and Rameswaram for shooting.
Yuvan Shankar Raja is the producer, and will compose music along with Ilaiyaraaja. “We haven’t begun composing as yet but I’m really looking forward to the kind of work Yuvan and Ilaiyaraaja sir will do,” Seenu said.
The team decided to begin shoot on December 14, a date of great significance to producer Yuvan Shankar Raja and Irfan Malik. In a recent statement, Malik said that their first production, Pyaar Prema Kaadhal, also went on the floors on the same date.
While the production team says that the film does not have a title yet, reliable sources inform that the movie has been titled Maamanidhan. An official first look will be launched soon.
