Ponram’s rural entertainer Seema Raja is all set to release on September 13 for Vinayagar Chaturthi. The trailer, which was released last week, showed lead actor Sivakarthikeyan playing Kabaddi amid a village backdrop.
Speaking about his work in the film, art director Muthuraj said in a statement that contrary to perception, recreating a village with its colourful festivals and ambiance was not an easy task. “But, if my art work in Seema Raja is noticeable, it’s all because of the top-notch cinematography by Balasubramaniam sir. He appreciated every artwork I put up, would click pictures and WhatsApp asking suggestions for shot placement.”
He also mentioned the free hand producer RD Raja gave him during shooting. “Sometimes, even when I would compromise keeping the budget in mind, he would encourage me to do what was required. In addition, Ponram sir’s aesthetic of presenting village life in a colourful manner helped me think out of the box. Thanks to the wonderful team work and what we achieved, even before release, I have the satisfaction of having worked for a successful film.”
Muthuraj had also worked on the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Velaikkaran in which he brought to life an entire slum.
Seema Raja‘s music is doing well too, and lyricist Yugabharathi says it was wonderful to team up again with the hit combination of ‘Rajini Murugan’ and ‘Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam’ – Ponram, Sivakarthikeyan and D. Imman. In a statement, he said: “This is the effect a team achieves when each member understands the other’s needs. There was a festive fervour during the creation process.”
Starring Sivakarthikeyan and Samantha Akkineni in the lead, the film also features Napoleon, Soori, Yogi Babu and Manobala. While Simran Bagga plays the antagonist, Keerthy Suresh and Motta Rajendran will be seen in a special appearance.
