Actor and producer Sivakarthikeyan says Sathyaraj’s role in Kanaa will make us look at the life of farmers in India. Sathyraj plays the lead actor’s father Murugesan. Directed by Arunraja Kamaraj of Neruppu Da fame, with Aishwarya Rajesh and Darshan in the lead, the film releases on December 21.

Sivakarthikeyan took to twitter recently to thank the versatile actor Sathyaraj, who plays Aishwarya Rajesh’s farmer father in the film. He said, “I’m sure he will make us feel the life of farmers in India… His entry into this project made us feel more confident.”

At a press meet, Aishwarya Rajesh spoke about Sathyaraj, and said, “I lost my father at the age of 10. When working with Sathyaraj sir, I would imagine that my father would have been the same now if alive. I had some emotional connect with the father in Dharmadurai, but in Kanaa, it was there throughout.”

Editor Ruben said if he had a father like Sathyaraj, he would’ve become an editor when he was 20. “I became editor at the age of 26, but if I had a father like Sathyaraj in this film, I would have made it at 20.”

“The reason I signed up Kanaa is because of three people – Arunraja, Sivakarthikeyan and Kalai. Every character in the film will entertain and emotionally involve us. I request everyone to watch the film in theatres. Such movies have to be appreciated,” he said.

Kanaa‘s teaser released in August. It showed Sathyaraj as a farmer who was heard talking about agriculture and farmer suicides, while Aishwarya was practicing on field and leading a women’s cricket team.

Starring Aishwarya Rajesh, Dharshan and Sathyaraj in lead roles, Kanaa is a sports drama about a girl from a village who fulfills her dream of winning women’s cricket at a national level.

Blade Shankar, Ilavarasu, Ramadoss, Rama and Savari Muthu have important roles, and Sivakarthikeyan plays a cameo. The actor has also sung the track ‘Vayadi Petha Pulla’ with his daughter Aaradhana.

Music for the film is by composer Dhibu Ninan Thomas. The album has a love song sung by Anirudh Ravichander, and written by Arunraja.
