Actor Udhaiyanidhi Stalin, who is currently shooting for Psycho, has signed his next film Kannai Nambathey, with director Mu Maran of Iravukku Aayiram Kangal fame. Comedian Sathish announced on Twitter that he is also part of the cast. It is said that he has an important role. Shoot for the film began recently.

Similar to the director’s debut film Iraukku Aayiram Kangal, this one is a crime thriller. Director Mu Maran said in a statement, “When I made my debut with IAK, I wrote the script the film with blind faith that audiences were always open to substantial content. I was really happy with the way they received the film, it exceeded my expectations.”
“This prompted me to go ahead with the script for Kannai Nambathey, and I’m so glad Udhayanidhi Stalin sir gave a nod instantly after listening to the script. Of course, he has now become an actor of great stature, and audiences are expecting unique content from him. This exerts an additional responsibility on me to give my best,” he said.
When asked about similarities between Iravukku Aaryiram Kangal and Kannai Nambathey he said, “Maybe suspense and thriller elements could be regarded as the commonality, but the premise is completely new and different with ‘crime’ factors.”

“We had to go through a lot of consideration before zeroing in on the title Kannai Nambathey. If I say anything about the title’s significance, it will definitely be a spoiler,” he said. The title of his earlier film too had the word eyes in it.
Produced by V.N. Ranjith Kumar, the film stars Udhayanidhi Stalin and Aathmika in the lead. Music is by Sam CS, cinematography is by Sridhar, and editing by San Lokesh. Details regarding the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be announced.
On the work front, Udhayanidhi is currently awaiting the release of Seenu Ramasamy’s Kanne Kalaimaane, also starring Tammanah Bhatia. Comedian Sathish, who was last seen in Ghajinikanth, has Boomerang, Gorilla, 100% Kadhal, 4G, Pistha, Ranga, Agni Vs Devi, Mr Local, Aruvam, Sasikumar 19, Seeru and Theemaithan Vellum.
