Sanjay Dutt: Munnabhai 3 Will Go On Floors In 2018

Sanjay Dutt has confirmed that the third part of the popular Munnabhai series will go on floors in 2018. Dutt will begin shooting as soon as he completes work on a biopic on his life. He also said that franchise makers Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra have finalised the concept, and will begin discussions soon.

Dutt told the Times of India, “We have a concept in place already. Raju and Mr Chopra are working on the script. We’ll start ‘Munnabhai 3’ immediately after the biopic wraps up. I’m also looking forward to that film because it’s extremely special for me.”

Dutt completed the final leg of his jail term earlier this year.

The first two instalments of the franchise Munnabhai MBBS (2003) and Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006) are Sanjay Dutt’s most successful films, and were remade in multiple regional languages.

“Mr Chopra doesn’t give a go-ahead to any project till he is fully satisfied. There have been talks for a while now, but I understand why Raju and he aren’t hurrying. They want to better ‘Lage Raho’ standards, which will take a lot of effort. Agreed, that it’s a franchise that people will love to see every year but practically, we can’t do that because we have to have a solid story. And cracking that takes a while,” Dutt said.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor first 2017 project will be on the sets of Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanjay Dutt biopic, whose shooting begins in January. In February, Hirani had captured live footage of Sanjay’s dramatic walk out of the Yerwada jail in Pune. Since the actor’s release in February, Ranbir has paid him frequent visits.
