Filmmaker Sajid Khan has been suspended by the Indian Film and Television Directors Association over charges of sexual assault leveled by three women.
Sajid Khan was called out in the #MeToo movement by actor Rachel White, assistant director Saloni Chopra and journalist Karishma Upadhyay. He was then replaced as the director of Houseful 4, by Farhad Samji, after the film’s lead actor Akshay Kumar refused to work with him.
“The Committee investigated the complaints in the spirit of POSH Act. The allegations in the complaints are serious instances of sexual harassment and abuse of power by Sajid Khan,” said IFTDA according to a report in Hindustan Times.
In an earlier interview, Sajid Khan had admitted that he was abusive to women. The IFTDA had offered him a chance to put forth his defence, which he denied.
When another film director Subhash Kapoor was called out in the movement, Aamir Khan, who had signed up for the director’s film Mogul, walked away from the project. “Without casting any aspersions on anyone involved in this case, and without coming to any conclusions about these specific allegations, we have decided to step away from this film,” read Khan’s statement.
Following this, Kapoor was dropped from the project, and also from the Balaji Telefilms show The Verdict, which he had signed up for.
The journalist-turned-director Subhash Kapoor, known for his Jolly LLB series, was accused of molestation by actor Geetika Tyagi.
Meanwhile, Kailash Kher, who was also called out in the movement got an award from the Indian Television Association recently.

Two of his songs too have just released. One of them is ‘Nanhi Si Jaan’, for the Hindi version of the 2.0, and the other is ‘Kathaa Naayaka’, for the NTR biopic.
