Sai Pallavi has refused to accept the remaining remuneration for her work in the Telugu movie Padi Padi Leche Manasu. The actress’ gesture comes in the wake of the dismal performance of the movie at the box office.
Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi and starring Sharvanand, Padi Padi Leche Manasu released in December 2018. The movie failed to do well at the box office. According to a DC report, the producer of the movie had paid an advance, with the balance to be paid after the film’s release. But when he reached out to Sai Pallavi to accept the remainder of the money, the actress refused.
“The producer paid more than half of the remuneration to Sai Pallavi and after the release of the film he was going to pay the remaining Rs 40 lakhs to her. And though the film was a flop, the producer decided to pay the money,” says a source close to the movie.
Though the producer tried to make the payment through her parents, they said that it was the actress’ choice to not accept the payment. “The producer even called her parents and told them to take the remaining remuneration of their daughter. But they told him that it was Sai Pallavi’s wish not to and they respected her decision.”
Having been a contestant in a dance show, Sai Pallavi made her acting debut through the 2015 Malayalam film Premam. The film was a huge hit and the actress’ performance was immensely appreciated. The movie was later remade into Telugu with Shruthi Haasan reprising her role.
The actress’ latest release is Maari 2 opposite Dhanush. She essayed the role of Aanandhi – an auto rickshaw driver. The movie is currently playing in theatres. Sai Pallavi has NGK opposite Suriya releasing this year. Directed by Selvaraghavan, the movie also features Rakul Preet and Jagapati Babu.
She also has a yet-to-titled film opposite Fahadh Faasil.
