Actor Sai Dhanshika injures herself during the shoot of Yogi Da in Coimbatore. She had recently signed up for the film.
A spokesperson of the actor told Silverscreen, “Dhanshika ma’am was injured during the shoot of an action sequence. A beer bottle hit her below her left eye. She was rushed to the hospital and was treated.”
“Doctors say she is doing well and it is not a serious injury, but have recommended rest. Dhanshika wants to resume the shoot, she says she is feeling fine,” the spokesperson said.
The film is inspired by Dhanishika’s character Yogi in Pa Ranjith’s Kabali. It is directed by Gautham Krishna, and is said to be a woman-centric film and action entertainer. Shoot has been happening in Coimbatore for a while.
According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, action choreographer Ganesh shot a high-octane stunt sequence with Dhanshika and other stunt actors. It was a nightclub set, and Dhanshika’s character had to fight with men hiding from her in the club.
Despite Gautham’s insistence that a body double be used for this scene, Dhanshika preferred to do it herself. The report also says the actor rehearsed the stunt many times before the actual take. But during the shoot, she got hit by a beer bottle.
Yogi Da‘s first look poster released recently. Dhanshika seems to be chasing someone with guns in her hand. She is seen reprising the role of Yogi, who played Rajinikanth’s daughter in Kabali.
Produced by Jatpatma Cinemas, Yogi Da also stars Bollywood actor Kabir Singh. Sayaji Shinde and Manobala have supporting roles. Ishrat, AR Rahman’s sister, is composing music for the film. Cinematographer is Bhoopathy.
Dhanshika currently has the Samuthirakani directorial Kitna under production. It is a multi-lingual film, made in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
