RRR To Be Set In The Pre-Independence Era

Junior NTR, Ram Charan, SS Rajamouli At The RRR Movie Launch

Director SS Rajamouli’s upcoming movie RRR featuring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR will see the Magadheera actor essay the role of a cop, while the latter plays a forest officer. The movie will be set in the pre-independence era, reports ToI. This goes against earlier speculations that the film is based on the Ramayana, with Ram Charan playing Rama and Jr NTR, Ravana.

The report also states that Jr. NTR is in the process of bulking up for his role. The first schedule of the movie was wrapped up in December and the second schedule featured an action sequence of Ram Charan filmed at  Ramoji Film City. The movie also features Samuthirakani in a pivotal role.

Hindi actors Alia Bhatt and Parineeti Chopra are being considered for the female lead. A previous report had stated that Alia Bhatt was likely to feature in the movie. “Since her debut in Hindi cinema, Alia has been keen on starring in a Telugu film. She found the offer to be part of RRR, opposite NTR, irresistible, and so, although she has a slew of Hindi films in the pipeline, Alia has agreed to be a part of the project,” a report in Cinema Express said.

Though Ajay Devgn was rumoured to have been approached for the part, the actor denied the report.

KK Senthil Kumar is the cinematographer, Sabu Cyril the art director, and MM Keeravani the music composer. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao, who regularly collaborates with the director, is the editor for the movie. And, the director’s father, Vijayendra Prasad, is the screenwriter.
