Multiple reports had emerged suggesting that Rajeev Menon had approached Jayam Ravi for a project. Speaking to Silverscreen, the director said “It is true that Jayam Ravi had liked my previous film (Sarvam Thaala Mayam). But I have not approached anyone for a movie. In fact, I am only in the scripting stage of my next project.”

Rajiv Menon is fresh off the success of his musical drama Sarvam Thaala Mayam. Marking Menon’s return to direction after 19 years, Sarvam Thaala Mayam was set in the world of music and spoke about a lower caste boy, Peter Jackson, who dreams about breaking into the world of Carnatic Music, a domain dominated by upper-caste Hindus.

The movie garnered favourable reviews but did not perform as well at the box office. The movie also marked Menon’s debut as a music composer. Menon composed the song Varalaama from the movie. Sarvam Thaala Mayam featured GV Prakash as the male lead. Malayalam actors Nedumudi Venu, Aparna Balamurali and Vineeth played prominent parts.
