Regina Cassandra Takes Up The Kiki Challenge, Here’s The Video

Regina Cassandra’s Tamil version of the Kiki challenge has gone viral. Coming close on the heels of the mannequin and the ice-bucket challenge, Kiki challenge was taken up by Cassandra with a tagline ‘South Indian girls dancing to your tunes’.

Other celebrities including Adah Sharma, Varun Sharma and Norah Fatehi had also undertaken this challenge.

A car slowly glides along the street; the co-passenger jumps out and starts dancing along the moving car. The driver makes sure that the dance is recorded on his phone, while keeping an eye out on the road.

This outlandish-sounding prospect would’ve been called crazy until a month ago; which is when Drake’s ‘Keke, Do you love me’ track dropped. Ever since then, people around the world have taken to this idea and have been making videos that go up as their #Kikichallenge videos.

While this is the aspirational goal of the participants…

…Many tend to overlook the risks involved and end up like this.

The subjects in these videos while originally intending to come across ‘hip’ end up as laughing stock when they run into pedestrians, trip over potholes, slam into poles and get hit by other cars.

A lady even got robbed during the challenge.

The reckless nature of the stunt has also prompted authorities to come out with warnings and punishments for its practice in public. The police in Spain, Egypt and Abu Dhabi have already banned the challenge. Back home, our own Mumbai Police known for a Twitter handle that’s hyper-creative came up with this.

The sensation caught on when online comedian Shaggy posted a video of him dancing to the song. While he was sensible enough to not jump out of a moving car or dance along with a door hanging open, that seems to be the preferred mode for most people while taking up the challenge.

Also called the #InMyFeelings challenge, its influence isn’t limited to merely common people. Celebrities like Will Smith and Ciara have also tried their hand at this. Will Smith recently danced atop a bridge in Budapest. His video was noted for its production standards as it involved the use of a drone camera.
