Ajith’s Pink remake was officially launched in Chennai recently. Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru director H Vinoth will direct the film. An official statement confirmed that Boney Kapoor will produce the film.
Following the launch, reports have suggested that Rangaraj Pandey, who just resigned as the editor-in-chief of Thanthi TV, and Adhik Ravichandran, director of the film Trisha Illana Nayanthara, will star in important roles in the remake. There are also speculations that either Kalyani Priyadarshini or Nazriya will play Tapsee Pannu’s role from the original.
A spokesperson for the film told Silverscreen that nothing has been confirmed yet, and talks are on about the rest of the cast. “The film is in a premature stage and documentation work is still happening. An announcement will be made in two to three days,” he said.
Shoot for the film will being in January, the spokesperson said. “We did some shooting two days before the Margazhi season could start. But full-fledged shooting will happen from around January 10.”
According to Cinema Vikatan, Pandey will play the character of the advocate Piyush Mishra who starred opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Pink. Adhik will play one of the three main antagonists in the film.
Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who will be working with Ajith after his 2013 film Arrambam. Cinematography is by Nirav Shah.
A statement by the team also said it was late actor Sridevi’s wish that her husband Boney Kapoor produce an Ajith-starrer in Tamil. Boney Kapoor said, “Tamil industry has always been special for me. In fact, it’s been a long journey to collaborate with Ajith for a film, which he took up as sheer commitment from the time he shared screen space with my wife in English Vinglish.”
“Accordingly, we both earnestly searched for suitable content that will add special mileage to our respective works. We are now delighted to have joined hands for Pink,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ajith’s Viswasam will release this this Pongal. Directed by Siva, the film also stars Nayanthara in the lead. Production is by Sathya Jyothi Films.
