Ranbir Kapoor will soon head to New York City to shoot portions of Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on Sanjay Dutt.

Reports say he will be canning the drug rehabilitation phase of Sanjay’s life. According to Mid Day, Ranbir will be shooting for some intense scenes in NYC. Sanjay Dutt’s darkest phase of life was when he struggled with drug addiction and he was in rehab in New York for two years to overcome the addiction. Apparently Rajkumar Hirani had researched about this phase of Dutt’s life and he had also finalised the location for this shoot last November.

Ranbir, who is playing Sanjay Dutt in this as-yet untitled biopic, has so far sported many looks from Sanjay’s Kalnayak days to his recent arrest. Anushka Sharma plays a journalist in this film, and Paresh Rawal will likely play Sunil Dutt. The film is scheduled to release this year.
