Ramya Krishnan will star opposite Amitabh Bachchan in his Tamil debut Uyarndha Manithan, co-starring SJ Suryah. They last worked together in the 1998 film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
Ramya, whose latest release Super Deluxe has been getting rave reviews, confirmed the news to Silverscreen. The director of the film, Tha Tamilvannan, told IANS, “Ramya ma’am has been paired with Amitji. The audience is going to see both of them in really interesting roles. It’s exciting to bring together actors with such fine calibre and work with them. We are shooting important scenes with both of them.”
The actress has joined the shoot, and will be filming for another week. The team is currently completing a schedule in Mumbai. The film was announced in August last year, and is simultaneously being made in Tamil and Hindi.
In Super Deluxe, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, Ramya played Leela, a lady who was once a porn star. A few reports suggest that she signed on for Uyarndha Manithan post Super Deluxe.
Meanwhile, the first-look of Amitabh Bachchan‘s character from Uyarndha Manithan was released by SJ Suryah recently. The working still went viral online, with Suryah calling this happiest moment of his life.

Uyarndha Manithan marks the reunion of director Tamilvaanan and SJ Suryah after their 2006 film Kalvanin Kadhali. The first look of the movie was launched by Rajinikanth in August 2018. It takes its title from a 1968 Sivaji Ganesan starrer, which was an adaptation of the Bengali film Uttar Purush.
Talking about casting Amitabh Bachchan, the director had said in a press statement, “What else can I ask for? This is more than a dream come true for me to have the country’s most celebrated superstar Amitabh Bachchan sir onboard. Moreover, the greater dream of directing Big B sir coming true through SJ Suryah sir has made me very excited.”
Amitabh Bachchan is said to have requested the team to complete his portion of the schedule in 35 days. The actor will also be seen in the upcoming Chiranjeevi-starrer Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.
