Rambha Summoned To Court In Dowry Harassment Case

Actress Rambha has been served a notice to appear before a court in Hyderabad in connection with a dowry harassment case. The actress’ sister-in-law Pallavi had filed a case alleging that Rambha, her brother Srinivasa Rao, and their parents, Venkateshwar Rao and Usha Rani, had emotionally abused her for dowry. A case was registered under Section 498-A (subjecting a married woman to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 3 and 5 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

After registering the case, the police filed a chargesheet against the five accused, including Rambha. Subsequently, the court ordered her to appear before the court.

As Rambha has been living in Canada with her family at the time, the police were unable to serve the notice to her on a few occasions in the past.

However, on 10 January this year, the police found out that Rambha was shooting in Hyderabad at the Padmalaya Studios. They were then able to serve her with the summons.

Rambha recently initiated divorce proceedings against her husband.
