Ram Charan has announced his decision to adopt a village in Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh. The district was ravaged by the Titli cyclone that made landfall on October 11.
Over 30,000 houses were damaged by the cyclone while crops in 1.39 lakh hectares were destroyed. Nine lives were lost. The local water supply system has also been damaged. The locals have been given emergency water supply by the AP Government.
A spokesman for Ram Charan says that actor was moved by the plight of the people in Srikakulam.
“Kalyan sir told Ram Charan about the problems faced by the people in Srikakulam and said that it is our duty to do everything we can. So Ram Charan has adopted a village and has announced it also,” the spokesperson told Silverscreen.
Ram Charan’s team is looking into the issue and has zeroed in on a list of villages that Ram Charan can adopt. “But we haven’t decided anything yet. Nothing is final,” the spokesperson added.

The Telugu film industry has rallied around is support of the people of Srikakulam and other cyclone-hit districts. Many actors like Junior NTR, Kalyan Ram, Rana Daggubati, Vijay Deverakonda have donated to relief efforts. Sri Reddy recently donated the advance amount she received for her next project with Raghava Lawrence to the relief effort as well. When contacted, Movie Artists Association, the association of Telugu actors, has said that they will be organising several events to raise funds for rehabilitation of the victims of the Titli cyclone. The spokesperson for MAA also congratulated Ram Charan on his initiative and urged other members to do the same.
