UK Gives Padmavati 12A Rating
The British Board of Film Classification has reportedly allowed the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Padmavati but the release date is yet to be finalised. The BBFC’s decision has now been contested by a Rajput organisation in Britain.
Mahendrasinh Jadeja, president of the Rajput Samaj UK, reportedly said that he had written to the BBFC calling for it to reverse its decision because of “community” considerations. “We believe it will have great community impact,” he said.
The group wants assurance that the film will not be released until the decision is made in India. The film in the UK has been given the 12A certificate.
Meanwhile, the Karni Senas in India have declared that its members would visit the UK to contest the film’s release.
