Deccan Chronicle reports that there are rumours about her playing the lead with Simbu in the film. But director Venkat Prabhu has also said in the report, “No one is finalised yet. We are considering a few actresses and nothing has firmed up.”

“I am in the final leg of scripting and want to make an official announcement after Pongal,” he said. Not much about the story has been revealed either. STR is said to be taking special martial arts training in Bangkok for his role.

There were speculations earlier that Keerthy Suresh might play the lead in Maanadu, with Arjun Sarja as the antagonist. A spokesperson for the director told Silverscreen, “As of now the director is busy with the releases of RK Nagar and Party. So work on Maanadu’s production has not proceeded any further. Any update on this film will happen only after the release of Venkat Prabhu’s other films that have been scheduled.”

About Maanadu, Venkat Prabhu said in an interview, “It’s a long pending project. We have been talking about a possible collaboration for a long time now, but suddenly STR called me one day. I narrated his character along with the outline of the script. STR liked the idea and gave a nod. The movie will come as a different experience for STR. His fans will find his character in the film exciting.”

Venkat Prabhu also said that he was considering a summer release. “As a team, I think we will be able to pull it off and release our film for summer 2019.”

On the work front, Raashi Khanna will next be seen with Vishal Krishna in Ayogya, an action drama directed by debutant Venkat Mohan. She also has Shaitan Ka Bachcha, an action comedy with Siddharth, directed by Karthik G Krish.
