Raai Laxmi Does Not Want To Be A Part Of ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’

Actress Raai Laxmi is surprised at the media’s focus on her relationship with cricketer M S Dhoni years ago. With the biopic on Dhoni to be released soon, Raai feels she is getting undue media attention. “It’s so strange that people are unnecessarily focusing on my past. While I and Dhoni have moved on, it looks like some people are still stuck with it. It’s been eight years that chapter got over for me,” says Raai who was allegedly dating Dhoni in 2008 during IPL.

“I was the brand ambassador for the team that he was a part of and we were together for less than a year. We had never committed to each other and never thought of getting married either, so I don’t understand why people would talk about us. It didn’t work for us, so we moved on,” adds the actor.

Raai also revealed that she did not want her part in his life to be shown onscreen in the upcoming film. “I hope not. Though there was an indirect approach to know the story from my side but I have not given any such consent so they cannot claim a relationship existed unless they take names in the film,” she says adding, “(Also) it’s not that he (Dhoni) has dated only me in his life. There have been other girls too that he’s been in relationship[s] with after me. And a biopic is much more than just girls and relationships.”

Raai finds the media spotlight on her affairs very difficult to handle now. “When things were actually happening, nobody spoke about it and now false rumours are being spread. It’s really difficult for me to handle this, especially when I am seeing someone else. Maybe it was a different combination of an actress dating a cricketer, it created the best gossip,” Raai says.

“I’ve begun to believe that my relationship with Dhoni is like a stain or a scar which won’t go away for a long time. I am surprised that people still have the energy and patience left to talk about it even now. Every time TV channels dig into Dhoni’s past, they make it a point to bring up our relationship. I dread to think that someday my kids in future will see it on TV and ask me about it!” Raai said in an interview with India Today

The duo met in 2008 when Dhoni along with Suresh Raina came to attend her birthday party. Raai was so smitten by Dhoni that she even said in an interview that she would marry Dhoni if he proposes to her.

M S Dhoni married Sakshi Singh Rawat in 2010.

MS Dhoni: The Untold Story releases this Friday, and has Sushant Singh Rajput in the titular role.
