Actress Raai Laxmi recently announced her new Tamil project with actor Srikanth. Titled Miruga, the movie will be directed by debutant Parthiban, a former assistant of Bala.
Talking about the movie, Srikanth said in a Cinema Express report, “It’s a thriller where the protagonist has shades of grey. Cinematographer MV Paneerselvam is a wonderful writer as well and this is his script. It’s a graphics-heavy film, so we’re shooting the climax first. The climax portions will take 10 days and the VFX work will take about four months.”
Srikanth has previously worked with Panneerselvam on movies like Roja Koottam and April Maadathil. With Raai Laxmi he has worked on Sowkarpettai – a horror comedy directed by VC Vadivudaiyan.
Raai Laxmi, who made her Hindi debut with last year’s Julie, hasn’t had a Tamil release this year. Her previous Tamil film was last year’s Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva, where she made a guest appearance in the song ‘Hara Hara Mahadevaki’.
The actress was paired opposite Mammootty in this year’s Oru Kuttanadan Blog, which failed to elicit much response from people. She also has a role in Shaji N Karun’s Oolu, that’s doing the festival rounds. The movie was part of the 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Raai Laxmi has Tamil films lined up for release next year. Yaar, Neeya 2, and Cinderella are some of them. She also has two Telugu movies scheduled for a 2019 release.
Miruga marks Srikanth’s return to Tamil cinema after a gap of a year. Last seen in 2017’s Lie, the actor hasn’t had a release this year.
Miruga went on floors this Saturday in Pollachi. Masanagudy, Ooty and Goa are its other locations for shoot.
