Puli Judham, starring Vishal, Mohanlal, Hansika Motwani and Raashi Khanna is set to release on March 21. The movie, produced by Rockline Venkatesh, is the dubbed version of the Malayalam movie Villain.
Written and directed by B.Unnikrishnan, Puli Judham revolves around a police officer who is forced to cut short his sabbatical to attend one last case. Mohanlal plays the protagonist in the movie, and Vishal and Hansika Motwani play the antagonists.
Starting off with a frame that carries the text ‘Good is Bad,’ the trailer has all the trappings of a commercial masala movie. The testte starts with Mohanlal’s voiceover saying “There is a hero in every villain and there is a villain in every hero.” With this line, the movie – an explicit crime thriller – hints at the characters having shades of grey.
Sticking to this theme, Mohanlal, apart from sporting a salt and pepper look, is seen dressed in grey for the most part. Vishal too sports grey costumes multiple times. The extra screen time dedicated to the men has resulted in the women having blink and miss appearances in the trailer.
Srikanth plays a pivotal role in the film. Producer BSVN Prasad launched the trailer of the movie yesterday.
Originally released on October 27, 2017, Villain marked Rockline Venkatesh’s foray into Malayalam cinema. Director B Unnikrishnan took almost two and a half years to complete the script. The movie was the first Malayalam film to have colour grading done live on location and the first Indian film to be shot entirely in 8K resolution.
The movie was shot by Manoj Paramahamsa and NK Ekambaram. Music for the movie was composed by 4 Musics and Sushin Shyam. Shameer Mohammed was the editor on the project.
Manju Warrier was also part of the cast. She played Mohanlal’s wife in the movie.
The film marked the director’s fourth collaboration with its lead star. Both Madambi and Grandmaster born out of this collaboration were immensely successful. Despite an underwhelming Mr Fraud preceding the movie, expectations were riding high on Villain. Upon its release, the movie received a mixed response from the viewers. However, the movie was dubbed into multiple languages including Hindi.
