Chimbu Deven’s fantasy-drama Puli starring Vijay, Shruti Haasan, Srivedi, and Hansika has been awarded a U certificate with only minor cuts. The film is scheduled to release on October 1. Made on a budget of over Rs.80 crore, the film will now be eligible for a 30% tax exemption. Puli was originally expected to release on September 17, but most likely due to post-production delays, was postponed. The film will also be released in Hindi in 1500 screens, and in Telugu in 1200 screens in Andhra Pradesh. Shruti Haasan and Vijay have also sung a romantic duet in the film.
